A new toothpaste ingredient, in development for over 10 year, with 28 patents and 95 pending, promises unsurpassed plaque fighting abilities. Colgate Total SF contains a new ingredient: stannous fluoride, stabilized with zinc phosphate. While stannous fluoride isn’t new for preventing cavities, this new form of fluoride, stabilized with zinc phosphate, very effectively kills plaque producing bacteria throughout the entire mouth, including the cheeks, tongue, teeth and gums. It also creates a protective barrier on the teeth, to prevent bacterial re-attachment and regrowth. This powerful antibacterial action and protective barrier promises fewer cavities, improved gum and overall mouth health - as compared to non-antibacterial fluoride toothpaste. This toothpaste should be available at your local drug store soon. Here at Kaprelian Orthodontics, we’ve requested samples from our Colgate representative and we should have samples to give to our patients to try very soon.
